Rastafarian Counter-Culture Movement: Movement Through Music

Abstract: A 10 page paper which discusses the use of music to present an opposition to a particular culture, thereby creating a counter-culture. The movement discussed is the Rastafarian movement. Information is presented which discusses the constructs of the counter-culture as it utilizes the music called Reggae to oppose the dominant, and violent, culture. Background information is provided on the background of the Rastafarian faith and the music of two popular icons for the faith in the music industry, Bob Marley and Burning Spear. Bibliography lists 7 sources.
