Revising "Blue Velvet's" Opening Scene

Abstract: A 7 page paper proposing changes in the film's opening scene. Lynch's film has moments of powerful effect, but it consistently pulls back rather than making the point to which those moments seem to be heading. There were few complaints about the film among critics, but this tendency is one mentioned consistently. Allowing this opening scene to progress to a more effective conclusion may have served to soften those criticisms. Bibliography lists 4 sources.
