Abstract: This five page paper explores the title book written by Linda Stone and Nancy McKee. The book asks many thought-provoking questions as to the cultural versus biological aspects of the study of gender. The authors successfully describe the relationship of gender in America to dominant cultural themes, including "individualism, American religious traditions, the double sexual standard, and American constructions of motherhood."
