Abstract: This 10 page paper provides an overview of Japanese culture with an emphasis on art. Included is a section on the history of art in Japan. Contemporary subjects are addressed including the culture's treatment of AIDS and homosexuality. Comparisons between Japanese and Western culture are made throughout the paper.
