The Gulf War and Its Effects

Abstract: A 13 page paper discussing The Persian Gulf War, or Operation Desert Storm. This war was one of the shortest US military operations in history, and also the least destructive in terms of lives lost. Many within the effort believed that the US should have not discontinued the war when it did, but the US was not acting alone. The the larger body of the United Nations Security Council influenced the decision to terminate hostilities when the original objective - the liberation of Kuwait - had been reached and assured. The paper discusses the broad coalition of UN nations involved in the effort, the nature of the air and land wars and Hussein's rise to power. Includes one table. Bibliography lists 12 sources.
