Clinical Pathways

Abstract: A 55 page research paper that examines the use of clinical pathways in US hospitals and healthcare institutions. Clinical pathways are formulated so that they map-out the course of a medical or surgical intervention, and the expected outcome. By standardizing care, hospitals streamline their operations and make the most efficient use of both their available resources and their personnel, thereby, increasing the quality of service while simultaneously decreasing costs.
