Abstract: A 15 page paper evaluating a study conducted in the Chicago inner city designed to provide peer education to low-income families with at least one asthmatic child. The focus of the peer education was in reducing or eliminating environmental factors that contribute to asthma, such as the presence of dust mites and other allergens. The study design is sound, as is its conduct. The surprising factor is the degree to which peer education has been successful and has become a factor worthy of policy change. The paper also discusses the study's implications from the perspective of cost-benefit analysis and social impact analysis. Bibliography lists 13 sources.
