Abstract: 5 pages in length. Ecotourism in the Himalayas represents a double-edged sword. On the one hand, the social implications mean increased revenue and, correspondingly, a better way of life. With industry and other revenue-generating options nearly nonexistent, Himalayan ecotourism provides a means by which to draw in much needed economic stability. However, while ecotourism may benefit the Himalayas in a financial capacity, it does just the opposite for the fragile environment. Bibliography lists 4 sources.
