Stress and the Nurse Practitioner Student

Abstract: A 5 page paper discussing sources of stress for the nurse practitioner (NP) student in both the academic and professional settings. The role of NP has stresses unique to the position, and these professional stresses begin while the future NP is still a student. The NP program involves several hundred hours of direct clinical experience, where the NP student is subjected to the same types of stresses s/he will find on the job. There is increasing animosity on the part of those physicians who feel threatened by NPs' abilities, adding another dimension to NP stress. Bibliography lists 16 sources.
