The Great British Farce

Abstract: This 25 page paper looks at the development of the British Farce in the 1960's. The paper starts by considering what it is that makes us laugh, and uses the ideas for Freud and Bergson as a framework. The paper then goes on to look at the way in which the culture and social conditions influenced the production of comedy and farce in the United Kingdom. The paper then looks at the way in which all of these factors come together in the films of Joe Orton. The bibliography cites 15 sources.
