Tetracycline in Pediatric Patients

Abstract: A 7 page paper discussing some of the research involving the use of tetracycline (and other drugs) in pediatric patients. The only consistent message about the use of tetracycline in pediatric patients is that it should not be used in patients younger than twelve. The antibiotic remains the most effective one available against Lyme disease is tetracycline, a broad-spectrum and very old antibiotic. The FDA only loosely requires the pharmaceutical company to include a generic statement about use in patients under 12, but to date most physicians feel free to ignore the regulation's requirements. Bibliography lists 5 sources.
