Abstract: This 5 page paper considers the issue of the Communist coup of 1965 in Indonesia, also known as the GESTAPU, and assesses why ethnic Chinese in Indonesia were singled out for maltreatment following the attempted coup. This paper considers the issue of the ethnic Chinese presence in Indonesia and the reasons behind opposition to this ethnic group. Bibliography lists 3 sources.
