Film and Culture

Abstract: A 5 page research paper that examines three silent films -- The Battleship Potemkin, a Russian montage film; Metropolis, a German Expressionism film; and The Smiling Madam Beudet, a French Impressionism film. The writer argues that these films not only have historical and artistic significance, but they also communicate, to a certain degree, the cultural experience of their different cultures at that point in time.
