Domestic Violence and Family Structure: Criteria for Effective Intervention

Abstract: A 19 page discussion of the complex issues surrounding domestic violence. The author presents these issues from the standpoint of a social worker but emphasizes that the social worker is only one component of a network of adjunctive resources ranging from law enforcement to the medical arena. Examines the applicability of the structured family theory, a theory first outlined by Salvadore Minuchin in the 1960s, to effective intervention in domestic violence. Bibliography lists 11 sources.
