COMPARISONS BETWEEN DAVID LEAN AND STEVEN SPIELBERG

Abstract: This paper discusses the cinematic style and content of films directed by David Lean and Steven Spielberg, and compares and contrasts the two men's works. The paper attempts to demonstrate how Mr. Lean's cinematic style, as reflected in his movies, Great Expectations, The Bridge on the River Kwai and Lawrence of Arabia influenced Mr. Spielberg's later works including Schindler's List.
