Marvin Harris' "Our Kind"

Abstract: 5 pages in length. Dr. Marvin Harris leaves nothing to speculation when it comes to cultural convention. The anthropologist set a precedence of immense proportion when he sought to explain why cultural practices vary so greatly from one another, as well as justify such cultural practices as cannibalism and gender domination. His contribution to the entire anthropological field yielded as much support for this theories as it did controversial backlash from his opposition; however, this only served to compel the prolific author to further his position in what is often considered to be the staple of anthropological studies: "Our Kind: Who We Are, Where We Came From, Where Are We Going."
