Individuals And Society

Abstract: A 7 page paper that discusses this question: Are individuals a product of society or is society a product of individuals? A paradox, for sure. The writer discusses the first recorded society of the Sumerians and explains how these ancient people created a society in Sumer. The essay goes on to mention the thoughts of Locke, Durkheim, Simmel, and Wilber. The writer demonstrates how the question is easier to answer if one word is changed but, even so, concludes that the first society was a product of individuals and although the society does shape individuals, it is nonetheless a product of people, a human concept.
