Howard Hawks and Literary Adaptation

Abstract: This 8 page report discusses Howard Hawks (1896-1977), a master of the art form in which literature and film were combined to create a literary adaptation where something was gained and lost but something new evolved. His films presented stories that had both visual clarity and unpretentious dialogue. The result was one in which the audience experienced great stories without a sense of them having been overly complicated. Bibliography lists 5 sources.
