Educational System: Article Reviews

Abstract: This 5 page paper comments on six articles about education, although the focus of each article is different. The articles discuss: the trend towards for-profit educational institutions; companies needing to become ecumenical for success; allegations from corporate executives that poor education was leading to a loss of global competitiveness, an allegation that had to be adjusted in the 1990s; projects supported by IBM in one school district and how they did not achieve their goals; the story of a teacher who did not want to be a teacher but had limited choices as a girl because of her color; and finally, the story of a teacher in a low-income predominately black community and how she assures success. Bibliography lists 6 sources.
