Abstract: An 11 page research paper that, first of all, considers the various forms of excitation employed by musical instruments. String, woodwinds, brass, and percussion instruments are discussed. The second half of this paper focuses on the piano: how the strings are excited, how the acoustics of the piano differ from the classical model, etc. Bibliography lists 9 sources.
