Abstract: 5 pages in length. The purpose of the study is stated clearly by way of explaining the difficulties inherent to nonprofit management and its ability to achieve balance between internal and external pressures "in the years ahead as the pressures to adapt to the market grow increasingly intense" (Salamon 96). The case made for the problem's significance is illustrated by giving readers a better understanding of how and why becoming more "market savvy" (Salamon 96) is all-important to whether or not nonprofit managers will be able to effectively secure of their agencies by nourishing "the sense of 'mission'" (Salamon 96).
