What is Popular Culture?

Abstract: This 12 page paper answers the question what is popular culture. The discussion starts with a broad definition and then looks at the way that it is seen to emerge with different theories as popular culture being a reflection of society, an influence that shapes society and that it is a concept associated with social class or political ideals. The paper uses examples from films and magazines to try to assess which of these concepts, if any, are correct. The bibliography cites 20 sources.
