Seven eleven was the year that Tarik ibn Zizad and his army of twelve thousand soldiers entered Spain. The Berber and Tangier governor arrived as guests of a Visigothic clan in order to add their support to King Roderic's impending ascension; however, when the king ultimately met his fate while in battle, he left Spain without a leader.
