Pediatric stem cell and the psycho-social effects on siblings/parents

Abstract: This is a 6 - page paper that discusses the stress and anxiety in family members who have a child or sibling undergoing a stem cell transplant. It briefly describes the procedure and then discusses studies which indicate that women with gravely ill children have high levels of stress. It suggests that psychosocial intervention with families of these children may help them cope, and tends to reduce stress and anxiety, particularly in the children and their fathers.
