Abstract: An 8 page paper which illustrates some of the most recent concerns involving the ANA Code for Nursing. This is a document that was designed in 1976 and it sets forth all of the ethical concerns that nurses should consider when performing their duties as nurses. The focus of the paper centers around the issues that are not included in the ANA Code for Nurses. The most prevalent issues addressed are the consideration of nurses who wish to have a choice in whether to quit a case or not, issues involving new health care plans, and issues involving euthanasia. For the most part the ANA Code for Nurses addresses the needs of the patient and not the nurse. As a result of the lack of attention that the nurses have in relationship to this document, and in relationship to areas where the document has proven insufficient, many states and organizations have added to the ANA Code and implemented additional codes. Bibliography lists 6 sources.
