Evaluating Two Antipoverty Policies

Abstract: 4 pages in length. Eradicating poverty is a concept that - while met with myriad valiant efforts - is not likely to occur in the near future; the extent to which various programs and policies have failed to address the issue at its fundamental core clearly speaks to the perpetual backward slide that occurs with every attempt thrown at the problem. Fair housing and welfare represent two monumental policies that have ultimately failed because of poor vision and the absence of solid program infrastructure. While they both share a common denominator of working toward eliminating at least part of the financial burden placed on the impoverished, they differ in the scope of their respective operations being that fair housing provides the opportunity to secure adequate shelter, while welfare freely gives substantial amounts of money to those who cheat the system.
