Abstract: A 10 page paper discussing the effects of the Spanish Civil War on this idyllic Iberian city on the Mediterranean coast. Malaga is an ancient city dating from the time of the Phoenicians; before that, it had been inhabited by even the earliest manifestations of modern man, the Neandertals. There was little change in the vicinity of Malaga after a brief period in the late 19th and early 20th centuries in which it embraced economic development and industrialization. Following that, it reverted to the agrarian nature of its history, the peace of which was only interrupted by visiting warring factions. In that respect, the Spanish Civil War offered little distinction from any other period of war that had visited the city. Bibliography lists 48 sources.
