Abstract: This 10 page paper explores a specific question: given Japan's lack of natural resources, population density, and physiography, how did she become an economic giant. The writer explores this question by first discussing the inherent limitations of the country and how those very limitations led to Japan's rise in the industrial community. Data regarding livable land mass and population are provided. How the country entered into the trade community is discussed.
