Global Citizen/Global Citizenship

Abstract: A 12 page paper. This essay begins with a historical account of the meaning of global citizenship and the emergence of this ideal in modern times. This background leads into the different definitions of the terms. The essay also discusses the fact that it has been NGOs that have pushed and promoted global citizenship. They have been especially effective with businesses operating more like global citizens. At the end, the writer asks whether or not it is even possible to be a 'global citizen.
