National Naval Medical Center

Abstract: A 16 page paper discussing strategy for the National Naval Medical Center (NNMC). It is the primary site of Navy medicine and is one of the largest healthcare systems in the United States. NNMC will be taking on some of the functions of Walter Reed Army Hospital by 2011 and so has opportunity to greatly enhance the quality and efficiency of both the existing organization and the one it will become within three years. Recommendations for change include continuing present quality initiatives, implementing six sigma operation and using a greater number of physician extender practitioners.
