Making Hunting A Deviant Behavior

Abstract: 6 pages in length. Society is filled with activities not readily classified as deviant within the scope of acceptance when enough people consider them "normal" by cultural standards. The United States - which may have more routine actions deemed normal than other countries because of its multicultural composition - relishes the "sport" of boxing where men purposely inflict pain and injury upon one another to determine who is the best. Americans also enjoy taking the lives of other animals in the name of recreation and then displaying the stuffed anatomy as an example of man's superiority and prowess. The two activities have only one difference: people can decide to put themselves in harms way while animals cannot, an ethical and environmental connotation that demands hunting be deemed deviant. Bibliography lists 3 sources.
