Abstract: 12 pages in length. The world's oceans and shorelines have been ravaged by the significant damage caused by crude oil spills. Tankers that have fallen victim to the wrath of Mother Nature or human error have strewn tons of slick and mucky cargo across waterways, land strips and animal habitats. While prevention is the key to avoiding such disasters, there still remain unforeseen factors that continue to establish oil transport as a dangerous endeavor. When oil spills occur, clean up efforts must begin immediately in order to reduce the any further damaging influences. The writer discusses the many aspects of an oil spill clean up effort.
