Assessing the Folk Societies of New Guinea

Abstract: A 6 page paper addressing the changes that may have occurred in folk societies before they are discovered by anthropologists. In the world of the anthropologist, the society of investigation is seen for what it is as far as the anthropologist can determine. What remains unknown, aside from the stories of the people of the culture, is the history of the society and how it may have changed over the years, decades, or even centuries. Any move toward 'civilization' as we understand it is seen as progress, but one wonders if it truly is. No additional sources cited.
