Conflict Resolution Among Nonhuman Primates

Abstract: 3 pages in length. Humans like to think they are the only members of the animal kingdom with any semblance of innate ethical behavior, however, de Waal effectively illustrates just the opposite in his studies of nonhuman primates and how they approach conflict resolution. Indeed, man's evolutionary cousins exhibit a whole host of peacemaking skills that serve to resolve a dispute almost immediately after it occurs; techniques vary among species, but the author has amassed enough empirical findings to support the clear presence of ethics within the primate population.
